A redesign of campaign management tools to help program managers reduce manual optimizations and focus less on monitoring campaign performance. Alongside this, a configurable platform that empowers internal teams to build custom campaign workflows and create new experiences without relying on engineering support.

Problem space

FRICTION POINTS

Campaign management often requires program managers to spend time digging through information, checking campaign status, and manually making optimizations just to keep things running smoothly.

At the same time, internal teams rely on engineering support to configure workflows and create new campaign experiences. Rigid systems make it difficult to adapt to different needs, slowing down teams and limiting flexibility.

Solution

BUILT FOR FLEXIBILITY

Across interviews, advertisers shared that the setup flow felt distant from the outcome. Decisions around placement and targeting lacked visibility, making it difficult to plan with clarity.

Contextual, actionable recommendations

MANAGEMENT

Recommendations are surfaced directly within each campaign or ad group, keeping them contextual and relevant without overwhelming users with unnecessary notifications.

Each recommendation also highlights its expected impact, helping program managers understand how a change will affect campaign performance before taking action.

Making recommendations actionable

MANAGEMENT (ITERATIONS)

I explored several iterations to find the right balance between giving users enough information to understand and trust a recommendation, while keeping the experience from feeling overwhelming.

The goal was to make each recommendation compelling enough to encourage action, without adding unnecessary noise. By surfacing the most relevant information upfront and highlighting the potential impact, users can quickly understand why a recommendation matters and decide whether it's worth acting on.

Maintaining design consistency

CONFIGURATIONS

The goal of the workflow builder was to give program managers more ownership over the experiences they create, without needing engineering support for every change. We often received requests to customize things like copy for individual clients, so I wanted to make those adjustments easier to manage independently.

At the same time, it was important to maintain consistency across experiences. I designed in guardrails like predefined components and copy length limits, so teams could customize what they needed while the design system guidelines were handled behind the scenes.

Reflection

Built for flexibility and ownership

One of my main goals with this project was to make the platform more flexible and configurable. I wanted to give internal teams more ownership over their workflows instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all solution. Every team has different needs, so I wanted the design to make customization feel easy and intuitive, allowing teams to create their own campaign experiences without needing engineering support. For me, it was about building a system that could adapt to different use cases while still maintaining a consistent experience.
